How to get a prescription
If you think you may need a prescription medicine, which we have not prescribed previously, please make an appointment with the doctor. If you have previously been given a prescription for a straightforward condition, such as hay fever, we may be able to issue a further prescription without you needing to be seen - please ask the receptionist. If you are on regular repeat medication, it may be possible for you to obtain a repeat prescription provided at least 48 hours notice is given. On occasions, you will be asked to see a doctor for a check-up. For certain conditions, you may be asked to see the doctor or nurse, even though you have had a previous prescription. Our practice nurses can issue prescriptions for certain long-term conditions; it is also possible that they can arrange for a prescription to be issued following a consultation for other conditions. Your local pharmacist should also be able to give you advice for non-prescription, or over the counter medication.
Repeat Prescriptions
We provide a computerised repeat prescription service. Repeat prescriptions are normally for patients with long-term conditions who receive regular treatment. Your doctor (or nurse) will decide whether you can have a repeat prescription. From time to time we will ask you to see your doctor (or nurse) to review your medication. We do this to monitor your illness and medication. You can ask for a repeat prescription: on-line via EMIS patient access or the NHS App - this is our preferred option (further details of this service are available from reception staff); via email using eConsult; by calling into the surgery when the reception is open; by telephone, ringing the surgery between 11.00am - 3:00pm, or by post. Wherever possible please give the exact drug names when ordering, or preferrably please use the repeat prescription ordering slip provided with your last repeat prescription, or if you have the facility order on-line. Please allow at least 48 hours before collection from either the pharmacy of your choice (if you have arranged for this service with a local pharmacy), or reception.
Requesting repeat prescriptions on-line is our preferred way for repeat prescriptions to be ordered
