The Greenbank Road Surgery has an open access policy, in which patients will be triaged for a call by the doctor in the order in which they contact the surgery, during surgery sessions. For the morning session, calls are taken up until 10.30am; the time period from 10.30am - 11.00 am is for patients with urgent conditions that cannot wait until the next surgery. The practice usually has two or three GPs in attendance, and providing you contact surgery prior to either 10am for a morning session or 5pm for an afternoon session, you should be able to speak to the GP of your choice. The practice endeavours to ensure that you will have a choice of a male of female GP, although this can not always be guaranteed. You can ring the surgery on 0151 733 3224 to ascertain which GPs are in attendance for any particular session as well as book in for a telephone consultation. You can usually make an appointment to see our Practice Nurse, our attached Health Visitor or our attached Midwife.
There will be occasions when the receptionist will recommend that your call is booked in with a pharmacist or a physiotherapist, depending on the nature of your condition.
We also have the facility for you to contact reception staff or GPs, online, via eConsult. This does enable you to have an email consultation. Some types of query are easily handled via email, but many do result in the need for a telephone consultation, or an in person, face to face consultation, so you may be asked to telephone for a consultation.
There are times when the eConsult facility will not be available, especially when we feel that available time to manage eConsult has been exhausted, or at weekends.
